Persuading patients to take their prescribed medicines has long been regarded as problematic. However, non-compliance often has serious and wide reaching outcomes, and can result in drug wastage. Concordance is a new way of looking at the processes within the consultation, allowing the patient's agenda to be taken into account when reaching a management decision.
This new book provides a concise overview of the area, as well as describing its implications for practice. Concordance is discussed from the perspective of the patient and the prescriber. Educational perspectives and research issues are also considered and a policy framework for concordance is presented.
Written by an expert and multidisciplinary team, Concordance will be useful for all healthcare professionals, academics and students with an interest in this emerging area.
